The research project KURI “Configurations of social and political practices in dealing with radical Islam” is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from September 2020 to August 2024.

The collaborative project of the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH) and Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) examines measures taken to deal with radical Islam, but also includes right-wing populist and right-wing extremist dynamics in the analysis.
KURI’s goal is to conduct basic research, to convey the complexity of decision-making and the development of specific practices in this field, to identify starting points for politics and civil society for the implementation of future decisions and measures, and to highlight avenues for further research on dealing with radical Islam and other extremisms. A key part of the project is the transfer of knowledge, which makes the results accessible in the form of various publication formats. These are aimed at the public, political decision-makers, partners in prevention practice, and researchers.

PRIF’s project team consists of Julian Junk (project leader), Felix Bethke, Christopher Daase, Stefan Kroll, Mona Klöckner, Manjana Sold and Manuel Steinert.
