Mahatma Gandhi Today

In HSFK-Standpunkt No. 4/2006 Harald Müller and Thorsten Gromes examine Gandhi’s teachings

On October 4th, 2006, a bust of Mahatma Gandhi” was unveiled in the entrance hall of PRIF. The bust was a gift by the state of India that was given to the City of Frankfurt on the occasion of the Frankfurt book fair. This event motivated Harald Müller and Thorsten Gromes to reflect on Gandhi’s teachings and to examine whether his concept of nonviolence, Satyagraha, is still relevant today. In HSFK-Standpunkt 4/2006 „Gandhi heute - aktuell oder unzeitgemäß?“ (Gandhi today – up-to-date or out-of-time?“), with regard to some current conflicts, the authors determine that Gandhi’s teachings are still valid today. Yet, it is desirable that politicians and peace researchers pay more attention to them.
