Making the World More Secure

The HSFK-Standpunkt 2/2008 documents the award of the Hessian Peace Prize 2008 to Sam Nunn

The risks of nuclear armament have increased sharply: Terrorist groups and politcally instable state regimes try to obtain nuclear material. Intentional or unintentional nuclear escalations are a huge threat for the whole world.

This year´s award-winner is putting himself out for the abolition of nuclear weapons for many years. Whether with the Nunn-Lugar- Program or with the Nuclear Threat Initiative -  with great dedication and insistence he is fighting for his vision of a nuclear-free world.

For this engagement Sam Nunn was awarded the Hessian Peace Prize 2008. The HSFK-Standpunkt No. 2/2008 „Die Welt sicherer machen. Dokumentation der Verleihung des Hessischen Friedenspreises 2008 an Sam Nunn“ publishes the laudation and the speeches made at the ceremony in Wiesbaden on 11th of June 2008.

The orators paid tribute to his emotional engagement which finds nevertheless pragmatic solutions, to his consistency and insistence.
