Aghast we learnt about the death of Dekha Ibrahim Abdi from Kenya, Hessian Peace Prize awardee. The Muslim peace activist died on 15th July after a heavy car crash. Abdi received the Hessian Peace Prize in 2009 for her commitment to conflict mediation based on inter-religious co-operation.
Harald Müller, executive director of PRIF: "We remember Abdi as a chariscmatic activist. She showed us the importance of cultural understanding and the necessity of an inter-religious dialogue for the creation of sustainable peace processes. We lose an advocate for peace and an inspiring personality."
The Hessian Peace Prize board of trustees of the Albert Oswald Foundation released an official press statement (in German).
