Peace Report 2008 Just Out

The current issue of the Peace Report focuses on the new processes of armament

The Peace Report 2008 deals with the current armament processes and the alternatives peace politics has to offer. In twelve articles, the authors analyze the new arms race in which not only the old antagonists of the East West Conflict, Russia and the US, but also China and India play an important role. But does the new dynamic in armaments only reflect the changed power relations? Are the old arms control regimes still appropriate in the new international situation? Or do we need new instruments to cope with the increasing militarization, including of outer space?

Moreover, the State of Peace Yearbook examines climate change as a security problem, as well as unstable authoritarian regimes such as Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Egypt, and Colombia.
