The Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty after the Review

In HSFK Report No. 3/2010 Harald Müller presents the results, problems and challenges of the NPT Review Conference in May 2010

In comparison to the last Review Conference five years ago that resulted in an irresolvable dispute, the NPT Review Conference in May 2010 was quite successful. But as measured by the requirements for an effective nuclear disarmament the success was not more than decent. Harald Müller participated at the conference as an observer and witnessed the tedious struggle for a conjoint final declaration from a close range.

In HSFK Report No. 3/2010 "Der nukleare Nichtverbreitungsvertrag nach der Überprüfung" ("The Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty after the Review"), Harald Müller presents the results of the negotiations and encourages the German government to form networks with moderate non-aligned states and states that are interested in disarmament within the Western group in order to develop common positions for the strengthening of nuclear disarmament outside EU and NATO.
