PRIF engages in cooperation with the leading peace research institutes in Germany and a number of German universities, among which the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Technische Universität Darmstadt deserve special mention. The most prominent component of this cooperation is the involvement of four principle investigators from PRIF in the Cluster of Excellence “The Formation of Normative Orders”.
PRIF enjoys successful cooperation in other areas as well.
In the jointly developed Master’s program, “International Studies/Peace and Conflict Research”, PRIF staff members carry out teaching activities in addition to the jointly appointed professors.
Moreover, PRIF offers internships, hires student assistants, and our staff members serve as advisors for numerous Bachelor, Master and doctoral theses at the universities with which we cooperate. PRIF also sponsors the MainMUN project, through which students participate in simulations of work done by the United Nations.
Serving to further promote academic collaboration, PRIF and the Justus Liebig University Gießen (JLU) established a cooperation in 2015. Through this, PRIF provides JLU students with the opportunity to carry out internships at the institute in addition to allowing young academics from JLU to participate in PRIF research and make use of its facilities.
Another important recent development has been the establishment of the working group on international law within Research Department VI in 2016, led by Prof Thilo Marauhn.
