The workshop - jointly organized by Dirk Peters (PRIF) and Kolja Raube (University of Leuven) - brings together scholarly research on the role and action of parliaments in European governance. It focuses, first, on the emergence and politics of multi-level security governance in Europe before looking more specifically into the role of national and supranational parliaments in the domain of security governance. Finally, the Workshop draws attention to interparliamentary cooperation in security governance, that is the transnational cooperation of European parliaments. Overall, the Workshop addresses developments and changes regarding the role and activities of parliaments, especially with regards to decision-making, legitimacy and control in multi-level governance in Europe.
