The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES Bolivia) and Plural Editores are inviting to the presentation of the book: Estado y poder empresarial en Bolivia, Ecuador y Perú.

In this book, John Crabtree, Francisco Durand and Jonas Wolff investigate the political role of economic elites in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru from a comparative-historical perspective. Drawing on theories of corporate power and state capture, the study traces the interaction of business groups and state authorities in the three countries of the central Andean region from the mid-twentieth century to the early twenty-first century. This span covers three models of economic development characterised by different configurations of corporate power and state-business relations: the period of the state-centric model of import-substitution industrialisation from the 1950s to the 1970s, the rise of neoliberalism in the 1980s and 1990s, and the shift towards a post-neoliberal model with the "pink tide" of the early 2000s. The book also discusses recent developments in the three countries since the Covid-19 pandemic, including recent political turbulence.
