The Ageless Scourge of Antisemitism and the Protection of Jewish Life in Europe – What Can We Do?

Crisis Talk

The brutal attack by Hamas on Israeli citizens on 7 October 2023 and Israel’s response in Gaza has also had direct consequences for Jews in Europe. Attacks on Jewish institutions and threats against Jews in Europe have heightened feelings of insecurity and perpetuated existing structural antisemitism. Once again, the issue facing us is what can be done to protect Jewish life in Europe and combat antisemitism in the long term. Our expert panellists will discuss the challenges at this Crisis Talk event while seeking in particular to present tangible solutions.

Crisis Talks by the Leibniz Research Network “Environmental Crisis – Crisis Environments”

In the European Union, crises have always been an important driver for change and progress. The heterogeneity and consensus-building nature of the European Union means that it has mostly been successful in creating common perceptions, overcoming obstacles, and shaping integration. The Crisis Talks series, organized by the Leibniz Research Network “Environmental Crisis – Crisis Environments”, addresses how the European Union deals with crises and what we have learned from past events.
