For some years, a dissolution of boundaries of German interests has been takin place as well as an overexpansion of the security definition. At the same time, there is no public debate criticizing these flaws.
In HSFK-Report 10/2007 "Von der Entgrenzung nationaler deutscher Interessen. Die politische Legitimation weltweiter Militäreinsätze", Berthold Meyer examines the development of the concepts of "German interests", security, and defense. Moreover, he gives recommendations, especially for the German parliament, on how the overdue debate on these issues could be promoted.
