Visiting Fellow: Daniela Irrera from the University of Catania in Italy

Irrera focuses on the implications on the regional security produced by the crime-terror nexus

In the context of her research on “Tackling the Crime-Terror Nexus in a Multilateral Context: The EU and the Others” Daniela Irrera examines the implications produced by the nexus between terrorism and organised crime. The strategic alliance of these actors enables them to exploit illegal markets and influence policy-making at the global level. With her study Daniela Irreras aims at understanding the kind of threat the nexus represents for the current global security agenda. Understanding the complexity of the current network at the national and the international level is essential for producing policies.

During her stay from September 15th until October 15th Daniela Irrera will work closely together with Matthias Dembinski from Research Department “International Institutions”. Her stay is made possible by a DAAD Fellowship.
