Welcome to Europe? Refugee policy in the dispute

Panel discussion on 13th October concentrates on the current refugee policy of Europe

In a cooperation event between the Frankfurter Rundschau and the Catholic Academy at Haus am Dom, participants from science and NGO will be discussing and critically scrutinizing the current refugee policy.

The situation is dramatic: people are being haunted, have to escape and leave their home country behind. They are coming from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Eritrea or Somalia, but only a fraction is fleeing to Europe. Therefore, they enforcedly deliver themselves to people smugglers and way too many die on their way. The picture of a three-year-old refugee, drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, has spread around the world, serving as a symbol for the failure of Europe. But how can such tragedies be prevented? What must be done and changed in order to master this crisis?
