PRIF congratulates Prof. Dr Lisbeth Zimmermann on her appointment to the Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen

As of January 1st,  Lisbeth Zimmermann will hold the Chair of Inter­national Relations at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen (ZU).

In 2008 Lisbeth Zimmermann started as a PhD student at PRIF in the project “Transnational Justice and Democracy”. She received her doctorate from TU Darmstadt with her re­search on “Global Norms with a Local Face? The Inter­action of Rule of Law Promotion and Norm Trans­lation in Guatemala”, for which she was awarded by the German Latin America Research Working Group.

As a guest researcher Zimmer­mann visited the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. as well as the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute in Florence. Further­more, she was involved as spokes­person of the German Political Science Association’s junior group in the section “Inter­national Relations” and success­fully parti­cipated in “Fast Track: Excellence and Leadership Skills for Outstanding Woman in Science”, a scholar­ship program from the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Since 2015 Lisbeth Zimmer­mann has been head of the DFG-funded research project “Norm Disputes: Contestation and Norm Robustness” at PRIF.

Her research focusses on current challenges of the multi­lateral world order, inter­national organizations, norms in inter­national relations, democracy and rule-of-law promotion as well as peace­building.
