Are state and society unable to perform political changes? Are social institutions collapsing in a dead end of their development because they are unable to manage defiances threatening their existence? What are the reasons for reform blockades and reform accumulations? What are the normative measures for reform?
These were central questions of the 23rd congress of the German Political Science Association (DVPW) which was held from September 25th to 29th, 2006, entitled "Staat und Gesellschaft - fähig zur Reform?" ("State and society - capabable of reform?") at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University at Münster.
Now Klaus Dieter Wolf has edited the results in a homonymous book. He is Chairman of the DVPW and Deputy Director of PRIF.
