The project “Extreme Society: Radicalization and Deradicalization in Germany”, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), started its work on July 1. The project will systematically compare and assess the state of radicalization research to identify policy options against radicalization processes and to strengthen liberal values. The project has been set up for 18 months and is carried out in collaboration with six partner institutes from academia and practice.

Under the lead of Christopher Daase, Nicole Deitelhoff and Julian Junk, the PRIF team, including Magdalena von Drachenfels, Marco Fey, Heribert Meiss, Philipp Offermann and Carmen Wunderlich, will coordinate the project and will be responsible for the area of knowledge transfer. Thematically, the project focuses on the radicalization of individuals, groups and societies, de-radicalization measures, the impact of web-based communication and evaluation criteria. Research findings will be published in different online and offline formats and be presented in a closing conference in fall 2018.
