Transformation of Security Studies - Dialogues, Diversity and Discipline

New publication by Gabi Schlag, Christopher Daase and Julian Junk analyzes key developments in the studies of security

The interest as well as the political and societal importance of international security studies has grown significantly in recent years. A new anthology by Dr Phil Gabi Schlag (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg), Prof. Dr Christopher Daase and Julian Junk provides a comprehensive overview of new theoretical, empirical and methodological developments within this field of research.

Bringing together scholars who hold differing perspectives on security, this volume provides insights into a variety of approaches and their newest developments, including ‘mainstream’ approaches such as realism, institutionalism, constructivism as well as heterodox perspectives on security. Moreover, the authors place emphasis on the broadening and deepening of the concept of security in recent decades and present various methodological approaches. It aims to build bridges of communication between the different “camps” by initiating a dialogue and to promote the advancement of this field of research.
