Do All Roads Lead to Rome? Institutional Roadblocks to Human Rights Mainstreaming in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Das Dissertationsprojekt von Carolin Anthes beschäftigt sich mit der umstrittenen UN-Initiative zum Mainstreaming von Menschenrechten und erforscht, wie diese von der Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation der UN (FAO), einer Sonderorganisation, die sich dem Kampf gegen weltweiten Hunger und Mangelernährung verpflichtet sieht, aufgenommen wurde.
Basierend auf eigener Arbeitserfahrung im Right to Food Team der FAO und intensiver Feldforschung bei UN-Organisationen in Genf und Rom, analysiert das Projekt multi-dimensionale institutionelle Hürden, die dem systematischen Mainstreaming des Rechts auf Nahrung in der Organisation im Wege stehen. Das Projekt nimmt sich einer Lücke in der eingehenden Erforschung von UN-Organisationen und deren Menschenrechtspraktiken „von innen“ an, insbesondere der FAO, der größten, aber in der Forschung bislang vernachlässigten UN-Sonderorganisation. Es leistet so einen Beitrag zum weiteren Aufbrechen, zur Analyse und theoretischen Einordnung von internationalen Organisationen und ihren institutionellen und organisationskulturellen Dynamiken im Rahmen (und jenseits) der Disziplin der Internationalen Beziehungen.
